A Critical Project Resourcing Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to support and lead the end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring all stages of payroll operations are completed efficiently and in accordance with statutory regulations and council policies.

Job Summary:
  • This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong payroll experience in a Local Government setting to join our dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Payroll Operations:
    • Assist and lead in managing the full payroll cycle, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing.
    • Maintain compliance with statutory regulations, including tax and national insurance requirements, as well as council policies.
  • Advisory Role:
    • Provide advice to employees on occupational pension schemes and payroll-related inquiries.
    • Support the team in pension scheme payroll administration, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
  • System and Data Management:
    • Accurately input and retrieve data from specialist payroll systems, managing large data sets with precision.
    • Use complex computerised payroll systems effectively in a large organisational setting, covering all aspects of payroll.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Expert Knowledge:
    • Extensive knowledge of payroll systems, taxation, and national insurance rules.
    • Proven experience in delivering payroll services within a large organisation, ideally in a Local Government context.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Skilled in using complex computerised payroll systems within a similar-sized organisation.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • The salary for this role is estimated to be around £25.44 per hour (Umbrella), reflecting the candidate's skills and experience.
