Role Overview

Gilmore College is seeking a skilled Science Teacher to join our team in a pool appointment.


Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching Science subjects to students, with a focus on improving student achievement and subject knowledge.


Requirements

To be suitable for this role, applicants should have experience working with Whole School Instructional Models, methods employed in Explicit Instruction, and a strong understanding of Literacy and Numeracy.


Applicants should also have the capacity to teach Australian Admission Tertiary Rank (ATAR) courses and previous experience or qualifications in teaching Science will be highly regarded.


Preferred Qualifications

Applicants with knowledge and experience in teaching senior school classes, particularly in Psychology, with skills to work with Students at Education Risk (SAER) and extension classes, will be highly considered.


Applicants should display explicit understanding of differentiated learning and be willing to contribute to the growth and development of the Science Learning Area.


A strong ability to provide high-quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students and maintain effective relationships quickly with all stakeholders is advantageous.


About Gilmore College

Gilmore College is an Independent public school that opened in 2008, continuing 52 previous years of secondary education provided by Kwinana Senior High School.


The school continues the education of students from within the City of Kwinana area primary schools, providing a comprehensive curriculum with pathways to university, further study, training, and employment.


How to Apply

Applications should include a three-page statement addressing the domains that govern the role, a CV of up to four pages outlining employment history and professional learning summary relevant to the position, and contact details for two work-related referees.

Eligibility

Applicants will be required to provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy, obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment, obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check, and meet the Department of Education requirements.


Training

Applicants will be required to complete the Department's induction program within three months of commencement, complete the Department's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement, and complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.


The Department applies a four-day breach period to this selection process.
