About the Role

The Deputy Director of Nursing Community Health Services Lead will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality nursing and multi-disciplinary care across Community Health Services. This includes working closely with Lead Nurses for Quality and Safety, matrons, and other Deputy Directors of Nursing to implement the Nursing Strategy and strengthen the nursing contribution to inter-professional working.

The post holder will work in partnership with the Chief Nursing Officer to ensure that nursing practice standards are met, and appropriate plans and support are in place to secure improvement. They will also lead on specified areas of Health Care Governance on behalf of the Senior Management Team and represent the Trust at governance meetings.

Main Responsibilities
  1. To provide strategic nursing input at senior management level, ensuring effective advice is provided to the CSU senior management team.
  2. To contribute to trust-wide and local nursing developments, overseeing the implementation of the nursing strategy and reporting progress to the Chief Nursing Officer.
  3. To conduct disciplinary and service investigations as requested by the Director of Integrated Community Health Services and Chief Nursing Officer.
  4. To work closely with service managers, Heads of Profession, and external agencies to contribute to the planning and delivery of high-quality health services locally.
  5. To introduce new systems for public, service user, and carer involvement based on feedback and patient experience.
  6. To work with the Director, Deputy Director, and Service Managers to ensure that all services have a clear clinical model of care delivery.
  7. To ensure effective local clinical governance arrangements are in place, in line with the Trust Quality Governance Framework.

Requirements
  • Nurse/Registered General Nurse qualification
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse/Learning Disability qualification
  • Degree or equivalent experience
  • General Nursing Qualification
  • Higher Degree
  • Completed Clinical Supervision Training
Experience
  • Five years' experience at a senior management level, including managing change and introducing new ways of working for mental health nurses and practitioners
  • Experience of delivery of forensic mental health care
  • Demonstration of sound and effective leadership skills
  • Experience of undertaking work requiring intense concentration in unpredictable circumstances with frequent interruptions
  • Experience of setting, monitoring, and evaluating standards of care
  • Experience of working in a culturally diverse inner city area
  • Experience of preparing and presenting reports at Executive level
  • Experience of setting therapeutic boundaries with patients who exhibit extreme challenging and high-risk behaviours
  • Experience of teaching staff advanced skills in setting boundaries, de-escalation, and diffusion techniques
  • Experience of working across professional boundaries, able to enthuse and inspire others using advanced communication and presentation skills
  • Experience of working in community services
