About the Role

Lancaster City Council is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Motor Vehicle Technician to join their Vehicle Maintenance Unit. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for maintaining the council's fleet of vehicles, ensuring they remain in good working condition for front-line services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair vehicles to a high standard, adhering to manufacturer guidelines and council policies.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements.
  • Diagnose and repair complex vehicle issues, including electrical and mechanical problems.
  • Work collaboratively with the Vehicle Maintenance Unit team to achieve shared goals and objectives.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers, including council staff and members of the public.
Requirements
  • NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrics, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems is desirable.
  • Ability to work on a shift rota basis, if necessary, in accordance with the needs of the service.
  • Basic clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service is required.
  • A full current UK driving licence is essential.
