Payroll and Bookkeeping Specialist

As a seasoned Bookkeeper and Payroller, you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records for our portfolio of owner-managed business clients. Using various accounting software, including Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage, you will provide hands-on bookkeeping support and prepare VAT returns. Additionally, you will submit PAYE returns on behalf of companies.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a respected firm of accountants and contribute to the success of their clients. The role could be full-time or a four-day per week position, with some hybrid working included. The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities. They will work closely with clients to gather necessary financial information, answer queries, and provide advice on VAT-related matters.

The main duties of the role include:
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for clients, including processing invoices, receipts, and payments.
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns in accordance with HMRC deadlines, ensuring compliance with VAT regulations.
  • Performing regular bank and credit card reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Liaising with clients to gather necessary financial information, answer queries, and provide advice on VAT-related matters.
  • Performing end-to-end weekly and monthly payroll for director-only and small company payrolls, ensuring all necessary deductions are made and all compliance returns are submitted.

Benefits Package:
