Job Summary

This role is an integral part of the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of medical devices used within the trust. The Medical Devices Safety Officer will work closely with the Procurement Department, Medical Engineering, and Patient Safety/Governance teams to deliver an efficient and effective safety role for alerts and communications from all agencies.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and coordinate medical devices safety and management across the trust.
  • Act as the main contact for NHS England, the Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Authority (MHRA), and manufacturers of medical devices.
  • Provide assurance that the trust is compliant with current relevant statutory, mandatory, regulatory, and best working practice requirements.
  • Be a member of the National Medical Devices Safety Network and the Trust Equipment Strategy Group.
  • Be the key contact for all medical devices-related queries for frontline staff and managers.
