Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Employment Tax Manager to join our successful and expanding national Employment Tax team at Grant Thornton. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in advising our diverse client base on a range of employment tax issues, including the operation of PAYE and NIC on payments, expenses, and benefits provided to employees, as well as establishing employment status (including IR35).

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on employment tax issues, including PAYE, NIC, and IR35, to ensure compliance and minimize risks.
  • Help clients gain cost savings through the implementation of effective pay and benefits reward structures.
  • Manage Employment Tax compliance and mitigate internal and external risks, including year-end reporting and risks such as NMW and holiday pay.
  • Assist with Employment Tax reviews, whether within due diligence, health checks, SAO, or on a standalone basis.
  • Play an integral role in the Employment Tax and wider Employer Solutions group, working on interesting and rewarding projects with a variety of clients.
  • Build the reputation of the Employment Tax team and Grant Thornton as a whole through quality and expertise.

Requirements

  • ACA/ACCA/CTA qualified or equivalent qualification.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work lead on projects.
  • At least 3 years' experience in Employment Tax.

Desirable Skills

  • Current knowledge of UK tax legislation and common Employment Tax themes (PAYE, NIC, IR35, etc.) and awareness of implications from the Budget and HMRC consultations.
  • A well-thought-out approach to complex problems based on sound judgment and research, communicating with empathy and impact.
  • A tenacious spirit in the face of adversity, taking personal responsibility, an enthusiasm to pursue business opportunities, and better develop self and team working in a respectful and co-operative manner.
  • Enthusiasm to embrace the use of technology and how to embed it to increase efficiency and maximize client opportunity.
  • Ability to analyze client problems, integrate information, and provide clear and consistent communication.
