Job Purpose

The Prax Upstream Environmental Manager will be responsible for ensuring the company's environmental objectives are met throughout the exploration, appraisal, development, operations, and decommissioning activities, both onshore and offshore. This role will also ensure compliance with Prax Upstream's internal policies and procedures, including maintaining existing and future accreditations such as ISO 14001 & 45001, and ensuring relevant environmental and statutory provisions are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with environmental statutory provisions throughout the full life cycle of Prax's onshore and offshore operations.
  • Verify ownership for Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading schemes.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications, including PETS Applications (Master Application Templates) for drilling, pipeline operations, wells, production operations, decommissioning, and standalone SAT Application Types (Consent to Locate, Marine License, etc.).
  • Administer the EEMS database, set OSPAR EEMS requirements, prepare OPEPS, Environmental Impact Assessments, and Environmental Statements (ES), ES Addenda, where required, PPC submissions, and related environmental assessments (BAT assessments).
  • Propose and monitor against annual environmental targets and objectives, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual environmental returns, and annual OSPAR public statements.
  • Manage approved permits/consents, PON 1; PON2 reporting, OCR Non-compliance Notifications, OPPC Non-compliance Notifications, Chemical tracker – custodian of, Production, Vent, and Flare consents, management of other discharge consents – OPPC, ETS, etc.
  • Record environmental training, exercises, and drills and submit annual returns on the same to BEIS.
  • Oversee waste management (and audits).
  • Liaise with other West of Shetland Operators to exchange relevant environmental information and lessons learned, Hurricane's Fisheries Liaison Officer, Relationship Owner for Shetland Isle Council and Highland and Islands.
  • PPoC for operational matters with BEIS, JNCC, SFF, NGOs, Other consultees, Fishsafe.
  • Contract Owner; OSRL, Shetland Oils Spill Response.
  • Represent HUR at UK O&G Enviro Forums (typically monthly).
  • Lead environmental survey responses/consultations (various), including but not limited to, Atmospherics Technical Group, Energy and Climate Policy Forum, Gas Forum, Environment Operators Technical Group, Government Relations Group.
  • Responsibility for audits; Offshore audits and monitoring, Permanent member of HUR's audit team, Onshore environmental office monitoring.
  • Management of ES commitment list.
  • Interface management BES/TFMC/PFML – regarding environmental matters.
  • Involvement with chemical selection/testing and registration as necessary.
  • Participation in gas management monitoring and strategy development.
  • EMS Owner as part of BMS, EMS Audit coordinator.
  • Responsible for offshore environmental compliance.
  • Monitor changes to environmental legislation and advise Hurricane personnel, maintaining appropriate records.
  • Support and participate in emergency response management as a member of the Aberdeen/Weybridge CRT and where appropriate OCU in Aberdeen.
  • Ensure compliance with HSSE&Q corporate policies and applicable legislation, participate in development as appropriate.
  • Establish, review (and revise as necessary) Environmental policy and plans remain current for Prax Upstream activities.
  • Demonstrate proactive environmental leadership.
  • Compliance with all Company HSSE&Q protocols, processes, and procedures.
  • Support to Aberdeen-based ERSC response facilities as required.
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner, complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation, and Hurricane HSSE&Q procedures.
  • Support/lead Incident investigations as required.

Qualifications

  • Technical degree or equivalent (with relevant application to the oil and gas industry).
  • Chartered Member of professional environmental body.
  • ISO 14001 Lead Auditor.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience of UKCS field development, specifically knowledge of the associated reporting and operational requirements.
  • Proven Environmental leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of current Environmental indicators and techniques for enhancing EH&S performance, knowledge of ISO14001 & ISO 45001.
  • At least 10 years' industry experience.
  • Highly motivated with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of multi-disciplined teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and perform effectively under pressure.
