About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Designer to join our Digital Ocean program at the National Oceanography Centre (NOC). As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the development of digital capabilities and knowledge networks to support innovation across NOC and the wider international oceanographic community.

Your primary responsibility will be to design and develop digital solutions that enable interdisciplinary collaboration across science, technology, engineering, and among internal and external stakeholders. This will involve working closely with AI specialists, software engineers, and data scientists to create innovative digital capabilities.

As a Data Designer, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, including interactive visualization, robotics and autonomous systems, big data analysis, and Digital Twins. You will also be responsible for supporting the Head of Ocean Informatics in driving improvements to our processes and developing the Ocean Informatics team.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in software engineering, simulation-based approaches, human-computer interaction, and natural sciences. Experience dealing with oceanography or environmental knowledge and data is helpful but not essential.
