Neurology MS Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Neurology MS Specialist to join our team at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong background in neurology and multiple sclerosis, with experience in running nurse-led clinics and teaching. The role will involve working autonomously at an advanced level, coordinating and requesting investigations, and initiating audits and research. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to build rapport with senior clinical and managerial colleagues, and have a proven track record of improving individual and team performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Providing high-quality patient care and education
  2. Developing and implementing clinical policies and procedures
  3. Leading and managing nurse-led clinics
  4. Coordinating and requesting investigations
  5. Initiating audits and research

Person Specification:

Essential:

  1. Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values
  2. Registered general nurse
  3. Relevant Degree
  4. Appropriate teaching certificate or extensive teaching experience
  5. Evidence of recent professional / management / leadership development
  6. Experience in running nurse-led clinic
  7. Experience in teaching
  8. Experience of working autonomously at an advanced level within the specialist area
  9. Experience in coordinating and requesting investigations
  10. Evidence of continuing professional development
  11. Proven ability to initiate audits/research & assess evidence
  12. Knowledge and experience of practice and policy across a broad range of responsibilities e.g., financial systems & budgetary control, corporate and clinical governance, health & safety and human resources
  13. Experience of motivating staff and improving individuals and team performance
  14. Able to build rapport and credibility with senior clinical and managerial colleagues

Desirable:

  1. Advance communication skills course
  2. Non-medical prescribing course or willingness to undertake
  3. Experience in a senior nurse role in NHS setting or equivalent
  4. Knowledge and experience of leading significant change, delivering tangible and sustained improvement
  5. Knowledge of developing business and workplans in line with future service requirements
  6. Experience of managing employment relation issues
  7. Experience in budgetary management
