About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our Integrated Risk and Intelligence Service (IRIS) team at the Department for Work and Pensions. As a Data Engineer, you will play a vital role in delivering innovative and insightful data products via Agile ways of working in a hybrid cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and transform business requirements into reusable, production-ready code
  • Integrate a variety of source data, using sound judgement and guidance to determine the appropriate approach
  • Conduct proof of concept and discovery work to provide information and advice
  • Play an active role in code development activities for delivery of data transformation products
  • Develop automated data ingest routines, workflows and mappings for structured and unstructured data
  • Complete design specifications and technical documentation
Requirements
  • Enterprise-level experience of SQL, Shell/BASH, Linux and command line
  • Enterprise-level experience in developing and enhancing efficient, scalable, automated ETL/ELT pipelines including error handling, re-start and data quality
  • Experience of translating technical concepts into non-technical language
  • You understand how to communicate with internal and external stakeholders and can change your style of communication to suit technical and non-technical audiences
What We Offer
  • National Pay for this role is from 40,201 to 43,347
  • The maximum salary for the grade is 43,347, however a Digital Allowance of up to 15,000 per annum is available for exceptional candidates, based on our assessment of your skills and experience
  • London Pay for this role is from 45,724 to 47,986
  • The maximum salary for the grade is 47,986, however a Digital Allowance of up to 10,371 per annum is available for exceptional candidates, based on our assessment of your skills and experience
