Senior Research Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Manager to join our team at Wellcome. As a key member of our Discovery Researchers team, you will play a crucial role in supporting emerging and established research leaders.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to the leadership, development, and delivery of discovery research, ensuring strategic objectives are met.
  • Supporting the Discovery Researchers to convene, fund, and share learning, leading on the implementation and assessment of funding calls and commissions.
  • Leading on scoping areas of interest, shaping and advancing internal research and development projects.
  • Contribute to the effective delivery of funding decisions, providing critical scientific assessment of applications.
  • Identifying and managing larger projects independently, acting as the main point of contact for external stakeholders or partners.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A breadth of research expertise in a relevant field through relevant work experience in an academic, industrial, funding agency, or charity setting.
  • Experience/knowledge of universities, funders, and other relevant scientific and research organisations and communities.
  • Significant experience in working in a relevant field.
