About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced ENT Consultant to join our team at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have a special interest in paediatrics and will work in partnership with the team at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide a Consultant led service with the highest standard of care.
  • Offer educational, clinical support and leadership to nursing colleagues and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ensure appropriate information is made available to staff to measure clinical performance and enable meaningful benchmarks to be established and evaluated within your area of responsibility.
  • Ensure there is a robust process for reviewing the quality of services provided, explaining the causes of success and failure and ensure the highest standards are maintained.

Job Requirements
  • MBBS or equivalent qualification.
  • Membership with the relevant Royal College.
  • GMC registration and licence to practice.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in ENT via a European Community rights.
Desirable Skills
  • Can demonstrate a good level of clinical experience and competence in paediatrics.
  • Experience of working in a MDT team and able to do supportive diagnostic work.
  • Able to perform outpatient diagnostic procedures including nasal endoscopes.
Teaching and Research
  • Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, post graduates and junior medical staff.
  • Evidence of participation in clinical audit relevant to speciality.
Personal Qualities
  • Energy and enthusiasm and the ability to work under pressure.
  • An enquiring and critical approach to work.
  • Caring attitude to patients.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other staff and agencies.
  • Commitment to continuing medical education and professional development.
