Deputising for the General Manager Procurement & Logistics, the post holder will work with directors and senior managers in NHS Lanarkshire and external organisations to deliver the highest standards in modern procurement practice.

We serve a population of 655,000 across rural and urban communities in North and South Lanarkshire.

What we're looking for

  • Postgraduate education and significant experience, preferably in healthcare or a large, complex organisation.
  • Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Level 6 Professional Diploma with MCIPS designation and additional specialist knowledge.
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge and experience to ensure complex theoretical models underpin procurement service management.
  • Demonstrate high-level competence in critical leadership behaviours.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of procurement theory and strategy, modern procurement systems, and project management.
  • Knowledge of public procurement legislation and ability to analyse and interpret same.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of procurement across various categories.
  • Ability to present ideas for change by reasoned argument and persuasion.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Procurement-related masters degree or MBA.
  • Experience managing high-value/risk procurement projects.
  • Experience procuring contracts in accordance with Procurement Reform (Scotland) Act 2014.
  • Experience managing and developing staff delivering procurement services in the healthcare sector.
  • Experience engaging stakeholders to deliver change as part of commercial/procurement projects.
  • Knowledge of procurement and commercial principles, contract law principles, and change management principles.

Contract type

Permanent, full-time, 37 hours.

Location and Working Pattern

The office location will be at NHSL Headquarters, Kirklands Hospital, Bothwell, G71 8BB. Remote, hybrid working is available based on a minimum 2 office days per week.
