About the Role

The East End Health Network is seeking a skilled and dedicated Primary Care Assistant to join our team. As a Primary Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our General Practitioners in the smooth running of clinics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine administration and clinical tasks on behalf of the GP, freeing up their time to focus on patient care.
  • Sort and prioritize clinical post, signposting relevant information to other team members as needed.
  • Extract information from clinical letters and add to patient notes.
  • Arrange appointments, referrals, tests, and follow-up appointments for patients.
  • Prepare patients for GP consultations, taking brief histories and basic readings as required.
  • Dip urine, take blood pressure, ECGs, and perform phlebotomy.
  • Complete basic forms and core elements of more complex forms for GP approval and signature.
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients and provide support as needed.
  • Help the GP liaise with outside agencies, arranging admissions and seeking advice as required.
  • Take responsibility for own development, learning, and performance, demonstrating skills and activities to others.
  • Attend relevant annual updates and inform the lead GP of any concerns or professional development needs.

  • Contribute to the effectiveness of the team.
  • Be familiar with all forms of communication, including email, tasks, and telephone.
  • Communicate effectively with outside agencies and the lead GP.
  • Apply practice policies, standards, and guidance.
  • Participate in audit where appropriate.
  • The post holder must hold a GP Assistant Certificate qualification - training provided.
