Reserving Lead - UK/Europe Specialty

We are seeking a highly skilled Reserving Lead to join our Global Specialty Actuarial team in the UK/Europe region. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the day-to-day work of the team and ensuring timely and accurate delivery of the UK/Europe Specialty reserve results and local reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of consistent and efficient processes globally, collaborating with UK/Europe and Global reserving management.
  • Take a leading role in the liaison with the claims team around impact of initiatives, and specific IBNR areas (e.g. CAT, specific losses, financial crisis etc.).
  • Liaise with the underwriting teams around the impact of any profitability initiatives, portfolio changes and other relevant actions.
  • Assist in the production of key reserving results and analytics to present to key stakeholders (internal and external to actuarial).
  • Work with reinsurance to ensure ongoing understanding of outwards RI changes impacting their product tower.
  • Day to day management of a small team, including training of junior staff.
  • Input into the budget loss ratio setting process for their product tower, on both a legal entity and management view basis.
  • Involvement in the capital model calibration process and support in other key SII activities.
  • Support the Profit Study analysis and review of Portfolio MI to drive enhanced insights to Underwriters in the management of their portfolios.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Mathematics or related discipline.
  • Qualified or nearly qualified Actuary.
  • Significant Reserving experience within commercial lines.
  • Proficiency in reserving software – e.g. ResQ.
  • Knowledge of R and SQL advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
