Role Overview:

As a Senior Cost Consultant, you will play a key role in supporting our strategy to accelerate a planet-positive future. You will specialise in estimating costs for critical infrastructure projects within the Electricity Transmission sector. Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting planning and executing construction or modifications to overhead lines, substations, buried cables, and power tunnels. You will work closely with strategic sourcing, contract management, and project teams to contribute to the accuracy and quality of cost plans and estimates while supporting winning bidding strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation: Develop detailed and accurate cost plans and estimates for various construction activities (civil, mechanical, and electrical) within high-voltage electrical projects (kV to kV).
  • Project Optimisation: Provide critical insights to support project development, identify cost-effective solutions, and promote continuous improvement. This includes conducting cost-benefit analyses, identifying potential risks and opportunities, and supporting Senior Management strategies to optimise project outcomes.
  • Bid Analysis: Competitively assess and benchmark bids, presenting findings to project teams and contributing to informed decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in infrastructure cost planning and estimating within the Electrical Transmission industry, at least over ten years.
  • Deep knowledge of high-voltage electrical construction projects, encompassing overhead lines, substations, and cable systems.
  • Deep understanding of construction techniques, materials, and their associated costs.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Proficiency in using/checking relevant cost planning and estimating software (CANDY and Cost-X).
  • Professional membership (CIOB, RICS, ICE, etc.).
  • Experience in project risk assessment and contingency planning for regulated companies.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • National security vetting: clearance levels (Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) - and Security Check (SC)).
