At Charles Taylor, we're a leading provider of marine claims adjustment services, handling complex losses for shipowner clients worldwide. Our team of experienced marine engineers and average adjusters work together to provide top-notch advice and support.

The Role

We're seeking a skilled Marine Claims Adjustment Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our marine adjusting team, you'll be responsible for conducting desktop reviews and damage investigations related to ship hull & machinery, yacht, and other marine industry issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough desktop reviews and investigations to determine the nature, extent, and cause of damage.
  • Provide technical advice and support to our average adjusters and clients.
  • Travel at short notice to perform onsite surveys as requested.
  • Review repair accounts and provide independent cost approvals.
  • Chair technical meetings with superintendents, repairers, and insurers as required.
  • Act as a technical umpire in times of impasse between insurer and shipowner.
  • Prepare clear and concise technical reports for clients and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with our team to develop and implement business strategies.

Required Skills

  • Ex-seagoing marine engineer up to Second Engineer or equivalent.
  • Working towards or registered IEng/CEng with IMarEST.
  • Good understanding of engineering failures and required repairs.
  • Physically able to attend site and travel worldwide at short notice.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
