Job Title: Therapeutic Childcare Specialist
About the Role:
Riverbank Cottage is a therapeutic environment that supports young people with complex trauma-based behavior. We are seeking a Therapeutic Childcare Specialist to join our team and work with children and young people in a children's residential home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work as part of a staff team on a 24-hour rota, 7 days a week, to provide care and support to young people.
- Assist the Leadership Team in ensuring all aspects of the Children's Homes Regulations are implemented and adhered to.
- Deliver care that is formulation-driven, participating in the development of psychological formulations based on trauma and adverse childhood experiences.
- Support young people to be kept safe through relationships with staff, rather than physical restrictions.
Requirements:
- Hold a Level 3 Diploma in residential childcare or be willing to work towards this.
- Demonstrate a commitment to supporting and caring for vulnerable and traumatized young people.
- Engage in good childcare practice.
- Recognize and set limits of behavior and provide controls to traumatized and vulnerable young people.
- Handle emotional and physical conflict.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to crisis situations and use initiative.
- Understand the needs of children and young people.
- Understand the stages of child development, attachment, and the impact of trauma.
