Job Summary
A Senior Research Officer is required to join our vibrant team of researchers in the Condensed Matter Physics group at the University of Manchester. The successful candidate will work on a series of projects relating to graphene and other 2D materials, funded by the EPSRC and international funders.

The post is available immediately for up to 12 months with a possibility of extension, focusing on the investigation of molecular transport through capillaries made from 2D materials and heterostructures. This will lead to technological development of 2D materials devices.

We are seeking a highly skilled researcher with a PhD in experimental physics, condensed matter physics, chemistry, or materials science. The ideal candidate will have substantial knowledge and experience of fabricating devices based on 2D materials and be able to perform sensitive electrical and electrochemical measurements. Experience with precision electrical measurements is desirable, as is excellent technical ability across fabrication and characterisation facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • To conduct research on graphene and other 2D materials, working on a series of projects funded by the EPSRC and international funders.
  • To investigate molecular transport through capillaries made from 2D materials and heterostructures, leading to technological development of 2D materials devices.
  • To design, develop, and implement new techniques and methods for studying 2D materials.
