Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and support the Croydon Urban Room project, a physical and digital space for public participation.
- Develop and deliver public-facing creative and cultural spaces and programmes across a range of scales and audiences.
- Work collaboratively with the Placemaking Team to transform the physical and environmental quality of Croydon and improve the economic and social well-being of its communities.
- Manage events, exhibitions, and public programmes, ensuring high-quality design and placemaking principles are applied.
- Build relationships with stakeholders, including local communities, businesses, and external partners, to foster a collaborative and inclusive approach to placemaking.
- Proven experience in public engagement, public programming, event management, and exhibition curation.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
- Knowledge of space management, event production, marketing, and communications.
- Desirable: experience of funding and bid writing, contract management, and local business and government support.
The Croydon Council Placemaking Team is an award-winning, multidisciplinary team of built environment practitioners. We work across strategic planning, urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, research, public engagement, public realm, public art, and culture. Our team is committed to ensuring a fair and open place of work, and we aim to shape places that are created with and enjoyed by all people of different cultures, identities, needs, and experiences.
What We OfferWe offer a fixed-term contract until March 2026, with regular weekend and occasional evening work. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a high-profile project, contributing to the transformation of Croydon's town centre and improving the lives of its residents.
