This permanent full-time position as a Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist on Dunes Ward at Hartley Hospital offers an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced professional to lead a multidisciplinary team in providing excellent clinical care to older adults with complex needs.

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to fill this challenging role, which involves assessing and formulating treatment plans for patients admitted to Dunes Ward from the community.

The post holder will be responsible for leading the ward team in a supportive and approachable manner, fostering positive working relationships and morale among staff members. Additionally, they will provide leadership and training to trainee doctors and medical students placed on the ward.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the multidisciplinary team on Dunes Ward in providing high-quality clinical care to older adults with complex needs
  • Assess and formulate treatment plans for patients admitted to the ward from the community
  • Provide leadership and training to trainee doctors and medical students
  • Foster positive working relationships and morale among staff members

The ideal candidate should possess excellent clinical knowledge, skills, and experience in old-age psychiatry, along with strong communication and leadership skills. They should also be able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty effectively.

Requirements:
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council
  • Inclusion on or eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council or within 6 months of CCST/CCT or equivalent in Old age Psychiatry
  • Section 12 (2) Approval and Approved Clinician Status or demonstrated ability to gain approval
  • In good standing with GMC regarding warnings and conditions on practice
  • Holds a valid UK driving license and uses own car for work-related travel or provides evidence of proposed alternative

The trust offers a competitive salary range of £105,504 - £139,882 per annum, plus a 10% R&R (non-contractual) allowance, along with on-call payments.
