About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Underwriter to join our team at Howden Group Holdings. As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for exercising your personal skill set, knowledge, and technical expertise to actively train and develop other members of the team on market trends and keeping up to date on changes to case law and legislation from around the world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate and undertake applicable professional, technical, and development training as appropriate.
  • Accountable for providing clients and customers with the relevant training, when required.
  • Continuously share ideas, best practice, and other information to the benefit of the team.
  • Accountable for issuing relevant and up to date articles on Bloodstock and Equine Insurances.
  • Develops and enhances relationships with business partners, policy holders, and service providers to continuously drive performance and results for DUAL.
  • Ensures that the service provided to clients is of the highest technical standard.

Requirements

  • Ability to work efficiently and methodically.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • High level Inter-personal skills to relate effectively to both internal and external parties.
  • All round awareness of those aspects of the insurance industry that have a direct bearing on key responsibilities and accountabilities.
  • Technical knowledge of FCA, current case law, and legislation as they pertain to customers and intermediaries.
  • Significant experience in the insurance industry with a broad range of experience including one or more of the following: policy work and preparation, basic accounts, claims, insurance Underwriting/broking, and direct client liaison.
  • Strong product awareness with significant experience of underwriting of specific class(es) to which the job holder is responsible for.
