About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Project Engineer to join our team at CertainTeed / Saint-Gobain. As a key member of our Project Management Office (PMO), you will play a critical role in the development and implementation of capital projects for our roofing manufacturing plants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop initial designs, specifications, and budget estimates for capital projects
  • Support Project Managers on assigned projects to deliver installations safely, on time, and on budget
  • Manage civil designers, construction management, and contractors on site
  • Consult with engineers from other disciplines to ensure smooth project execution
  • Direct activities to ensure construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications, recognized codes, and customer requirements
  • Collaborate with the Technical Office to develop designs and processes for optimal performance and cost-effectiveness
  • Provide mentorship and training to Project Engineers on the design phase of projects
  • Ensure efficient project handover to the Operations team, including documentation, drawings, training support, and spare parts packages
  • Create project schedules and communicate project status to meet company goals
  • Follow the Project Execution Manual Check Lists (Stage gate process) and apply standard tools at each project stage
  • Maintain fluid communication and collaboration with other team members, including Project Management Office, OPEX team, Loss Prevention Team, and corporate teams
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or similar Engineering field; Master's Degree or PE preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in industrial construction, with capital project engineering roles preferred
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings
  • Extensive experience in construction planning and execution at site, including surveying, estimation, and bid management
  • Site experience on both contractor and client sides preferred
  • Ability to check calculations made by other engineers or engineering contractors for accuracy and conformance to codes and specifications
  • Able to interpret structural calculations, geotechnical reports, and propose/check foundation solutions
  • Able to use and/or interpret Revit, Navisworks, Tekla, etc.
