Research and Training Lead
The University of Oxford is seeking a highly skilled Research and Training Lead to join the Social Sciences Divisional Office. This is a unique opportunity to develop an innovative training programme for the ESRC Grand Union Doctoral Training Programme (DTP).
The successful candidate will design and deliver an integrated training experience on a range of skills relevant for social science research and practice. This will involve working closely with doctoral student cohorts, taking into consideration their collective and individual training needs.
The Research and Training Lead will be responsible for designing (or identifying) and co-delivering five new, interdisciplinary courses for DTP students covering general social science theory and methods. These courses will be delivered in the following key areas:
- Quantitative and Data Skills Basics
- Behavioural Science
- Big Data, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence
- Social Science for Public Policy and Business
- Participatory and Co-Design Methods
The position offers leadership and managerial opportunities, with the ability to work independently and manage a discrete project. The postholder will also have the ability to develop relationships with multiple partners at all levels.
The Research and Training Lead will be required to develop a comprehensive understanding of the workings of the DTP and will be involved in the annual studentship selection processes, as well as serving as a member of the DTP's management committees and ESRC networks.
This is a 0.5 FTE fixed-term position until September 2026. If you are interested in the role but do not feel that you meet all of the criteria, or would prefer an alternative working arrangement, we are open to considering alternative arrangements.
