About Our Client:

Our client, a leading UK product designer and distributor, is seeking a junior merchandiser to join their expanding team. With a dedicated in-house team of designers, they bring flair and imagination to their products. As an organisation, they are passionate about creating innovative and high-quality items.

Job Purpose:

The junior merchandiser will be responsible for managing the product lifecycle, from freight and imports to range planning and trading. The ideal candidate will have experience in a retail or import environment and possess strong Excel skills and high-level proficiency with other Microsoft Office programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately update the Product Lifecycle Management system with delivery and shipping information.
  • Update the critical path and ensure deliveries are on schedule.
  • Ensure the Distribution centre has all relevant documentation for goods in planning.
  • Liaise with other in-house teams to meet customers/private label specific requirements.
  • Proactively manage factory performance to meet required order specifications and delivery timelines.
  • Update costings from freight forwarders.
  • Update the business regarding any delays or issues.
Range Planning & Trading Responsibilities:
  • Work with Buying on Own Brand product reviews, to create seasonal option plans.
  • Work with the Buying team to establish a balanced range of merchandise suited to the customer profile of the company.
  • Build PO template to support Buying in placing of seasonal purchase orders.
  • Review stock & sales reports to drive seasonal rebuys in line with OTB.
  • Drive sales by supporting with in-season trading activity & markdown planning.
  • Product lifecycle management.
  • Manage concession stocks/allocations in line with sales.
Ad Hoc Duties:
  • Assist with producing weekly trade reports.
  • Provide Ad-Hoc reports & analysis as required by the business.
  • Support the maintenance of accurate product data.
  • Support with UK trade shows where required.
  • You will play a key part in creating an environment free from prejudice, racism, sexism, harassment, bullying and any other form of marginalisation in our workplace.
Essential Skills/Experience Required:
  • Experience as an Admin/Assistant Merchandiser or similar in a retail/import environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong Excel skills and high-level proficiency with other Microsoft Office programs.
  • Highly numerate and analytical, balanced with an interest in product.
  • Be proactive at interrogating data to identify risks and opportunities and devising action plans accordingly.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously and be resilient and flexible to change, whilst managing a high workload, conflicting priorities, and pressure.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Takes a forward-thinking approach to the issues which will affect now and in the future.
  • Methodical, analytical and organised.
  • Understanding of critical paths and seasonal range development.
Desirable/Preferred Experience:
  • Proven history of successful supplier negotiation.
  • Experience discussing finances, budgets and costs.
  • Knowledge of quality control and costs.
