We are seeking a part-time Community Care Specialist in the Nelson area to join our Whānau Support Services team.
Job Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing mentorship and companionship to individuals living with disabilities, assisting them with daily living tasks, budgeting, meal preparation, and participating in community activities. This role may also involve caring for younger children, supporting their goals and aspirations, while giving the family some respite.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, promoting independence and well-being
- Assist clients with daily living tasks, including budgeting, meal preparation, and personal care
- Participate in community activities with clients, promoting socialization and integration
- Care for younger children, supporting their education, health, and overall development
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting, preferably working with individuals with disabilities and challenging behaviors
- Availability to work after-school hours and weekends, as well as occasional overtime
- A full driver's license and access to a vehicle
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
