Mainframe Modernization Solutions Architect

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Modernization Solutions Architect to join our team. As a key member of our Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO), you will be responsible for driving Mainframe Modernization discussions with customers, providing technical thought leadership, building solutions architecture, migration planning, POC scoping, and building technical assets and reference architectures.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to deliver on our strategy to help customers modernize their mainframe workloads. You will work closely with customers to understand their needs and develop tailored solutions to accelerate their cloud migration journey. Your expertise in cloud architecture, systems design, software development, infrastructure architecture, data engineering, or DevOps will be essential in building large-scale migration solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Drive Mainframe Modernization discussions with customers and provide technical thought leadership
  • Build solutions architecture, migration planning, POC scoping, and technical assets and reference architectures
  • Work closely with customers to understand their needs and develop tailored solutions
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Business Development, Professional Services, and Partners, to ensure successful customer progression
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in specific technology domains, such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, or data & analytics
  • 3+ years of experience in design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures
  • 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting experience in the software or Internet industries
  • Background in cloud architecture, systems design, software development, infrastructure architecture, data engineering, or DevOps construction of large-scale migration solutions
  • Technical degree (Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or equivalent) and/or relevant tech experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking experience
  • Experience working with customers in Financial Services
  • Extensive experience with mainframe, non-x86 legacy systems, and technologies such as COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2 for z/OS, Assembler, PL/I, Java, Rexx, flat/sequential files, GDGs, and VSAM
