Exciting Opportunity for a Capital Accountant Assistant in MHDV's Finance Team

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Capital Accountant Assistant to join our finance team at Malmaison and Hotel du Vin (MHDV). This is a fantastic opportunity for a finance graduate or professional looking to take on their first role in a corporate environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Capital Accountant, Finance Manager, and project management teams to assist with the day-to-day running of the capital accounts function. The ideal candidate will have excellent financial skills, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with setting up WBS code projects on SAP once CAPEX budget is approved and paperwork is signed off
  • Raise Purchase Orders for MHDV CAPEX projects
  • Process CAPEX Invoices and ensure timely payment to vendors, including ensuring CAPEX vendor setup with the SAP vendor team
  • Communicate with the Maintenance and Hotel Development team based around the country to ensure smooth project spend
  • Liaise with the SAP Approval team on Capital spend approval, budget reallocation when needed, and budget closure/roll forward at year end
  • Submit required CAPEX related reports, e.g., committed spends as required
  • Assist with month-end reporting, e.g., AUC reports and review of AUC balance to be expensed in a timely manner
  • Ensure completed projects are followed up right up to capitalization stage in the books in a timely manner
  • Ensure Tech fees are booked to capitalized projects in a timely manner and future Tech fees are reviewed quarterly against projects in the pipeline to avoid exceeding capitalized amount
  • Support the Capital Accountant as required, including holiday cover
  • Other ad-hoc duties, including liaising with consultants for capital allowance projects, National Statistics for CAPEX, CAPEX related initiatives, etc.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a finance or business-related field of study
  • Similar experience in Finance accounting would be beneficial
  • Proven capability to communicate financial information to various stakeholders, especially with non-financial backgrounds
  • An eye for detail and the ability to identify errors and offer workable solutions
  • Strong systems skills with a mindset of continuous improvement
  • Personable, positive, dynamic professional who works flexibly and collaboratively to achieve deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A disciplined approach to production and documentation of work
  • Strong team player who can demonstrate ownership of work streams, work independently, and coordinate multiple stakeholders
