About the Opportunity

Jacobs is a leading provider of technical, professional, and construction services to the nuclear industry. We are currently seeking a Safety Case Engineer to join our team in the UK.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing safety analysis and safety case support to waste management and decommissioning projects, supporting licensees, future licensees, waste management organisations and regulators.

As a Safety Case Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, collaborating with a diverse group of team members to meet our evolving customer needs. You will also be supported to develop your skills and experience, and offered opportunities to build a successful career and lead technical teams and take responsibility for project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participating in hazard identification studies (e.g. HAZIDs, HAZOPs, SWIFTs).
  • Supporting the preparation of qualitative and quantitative risk assessments (e.g. FTAs, FMEA, ETA, QRA).
  • Preparation of safety case documentation and reports.
  • Preparing safety case strategy reports.
  • Preparing technical reports.
Requirements:
  • Degree qualified or equivalent in a scientific or engineering discipline.
  • Good communication skills and ability to articulate information.
  • Experience in preparing technical reports.
  • Self-starter with a professional leadership approach and a technical background.
  • An ability to make good engineering judgement whilst acknowledging limitations of knowledge.
