Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice to clients on securing appropriate IP protection
  • Research prior art and work directly with clients to develop creative and persuasive arguments against patent office objections
  • Thoroughly analyze and edit existing patent specifications to overcome objections to patent applications and attend hearings at the European Patent Office
  • Draft specifications for complex technical inventions
  • Research and advise on the status, scope, and validity of third-party intellectual property rights
  • Build a network of contacts and develop relationships with current clients to bring in new business


Requirements:

  • A part-qualified (UK or European) Patent Attorney
  • A strong academic or industry record in an engineering discipline and the ability to communicate effectively about technical concepts
  • Impeccable written English and first-rate communication skills
  • A track record of interacting effectively with staff and clients at all levels and a proactive approach
  • A track record of building rapport with clients and developing new business
