Job Description

Colas Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Officer to join their team in Portsmouth. As a Compliance Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all permits are reviewed and coordinated accurately and efficiently to preserve the free flow of the Highway network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out compliance inspections for all promoters of works working on the Portsmouth network.
  • Authorise and set permit conditions, process requests, monitor works within the permitting system, liaise with third parties, and provide performance reporting data.
  • Review permitting applications and conditions, issue permits, and ensure that all notices and permit applications for works are assessed and responded to within the required timescales.
  • Assess the nature, location, timing, and duration of works and other activities and events affecting Portsmouth's network, identifying potential for interaction and conflict.
  • Decide on the appropriate use of statutory controls for minimising disruption, in accordance with the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA) and the Traffic Management Act 2004 (TMA).

Requirements:

  • Experience, knowledge, and understanding of the nature of the road network.
  • Experience in the area of highway engineering/street works coordination.
  • Numerate and computer literate with MS Office experience, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work to targets and tight deadlines.
