Geo-Environmental Engineer Opportunity

We are working with a multidisciplinary consultancy and construction company that is seeking an ambitious and talented engineer to join their team in Northampton. This role offers a great mix of design work and site visits, with projects across Bedford, Cambridge, Milton Keynes, and beyond.

The Role:

As a Geo-Environmental Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out site investigations, preparing geo-environmental assessments, and designing solutions for a range of exciting projects. The role is a balance of office-based design work and site visits, giving you the opportunity to work on both technical reports and hands-on investigations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct site investigations including soil sampling, groundwater monitoring, and gas monitoring
  • Prepare geo-environmental assessments, risk assessments, and remediation strategies
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate geo-environmental solutions into project designs
  • Manage site visits, supervising subcontractors and ensuring health and safety compliance
  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, and contractors to provide regular updates on project progress
  • Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to clients clearly and accurately
  • Support project delivery, ensuring work is completed on time and within budget
  • Assist in the development of junior staff, offering guidance and technical support
Requirements:
  • A degree in Geo-Environmental Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 2-5 years' experience in geo-environmental investigations, preferably within a consultancy environment
  • Strong understanding of UK environmental legislation and contaminated land assessment
  • Experience with site investigation techniques, including groundwater and gas monitoring
  • Proficiency in geo-environmental design software and reporting tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and contractors
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across project locations
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
