Job Title: Young Carer Support Officer

Job Summary:

21 HSC Limited is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Young Carer Support Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Carers Gateway service, you will play a vital role in improving the health and wellbeing of young carers in North Ayrshire.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and support young carers aged 8-18 who have caring responsibilities, providing emotional and practical support to help them access a range of services and activities.
  • Work in schools and community settings to raise awareness of the challenges faced by young carers, encouraging earlier identification and a multi-disciplinary approach to support them.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local organisations to enhance the services and activities available to young carers.
  • Provide guidance on young carers' rights and entitlements, ensuring they have access to the support they need.
  • Represent young carers at local and national platforms, empowering them to have their say and advocate for their needs.

Requirements:

  • Standard grade general level or equivalent in a minimum of four subjects, one of which should be English.
  • Desirable: SVQ in Social Care or equivalent qualification.
  • Essential: driving licence and access to a car for business use.
  • Previous work experience with unpaid carers, lived experience, or relatable voluntary experience.
  • Understanding of Carers Rights, Benefits, and Local Strategy.
  • Experience of managing a caseload, good note-taking, and follow-up.
