Senior Onshore Cable Installation Specialist

As a Senior Onshore Cable Installation Specialist with Taylor Hopkinson Limited, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of onshore export cable projects. Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with the civils team to ensure the effective installation of onshore cable routes from the landfall to the point of connection at NG substations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with the civils team to design and implement onshore cable routes.
  2. Support the Lead Civil Engineer in managing internal and external studies and consultancies for specific engineering scopes.
  3. Develop and implement technical specifications for the civils and duct installation, as well as the supply and installation, jointing, terminating, and testing of onshore export cables.
  4. Participate in the preparation of contracts and examination and evaluation of offered technical solutions.
  5. Support the Lead Civil Engineer in design, FEED, and the construction and consenting processes, including reviews of documents and the delivered technical solutions for compliance with specified requirements.
  6. Manage internal interfaces to the survey team and onshore export cable package.
  7. Strengthen interfaces to other work packages.
  8. Transition into an Onshore Engineer Site Representative role once works commence on site, reporting to the Lead Civil Engineer on a daily basis.
Requirements
  1. A degree or comparable qualification in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  2. Alternatively, a technical/skilled worker formation plus extensive professional experience in the respective field.
  3. A very good demonstrable knowledge of civils works associated with the installation of long linear onshore cable routes, including trenchless crossing techniques, 3rd party asset crossings, land and consents interfaces, jointing & terminating of HV cables commissioning, and HV testing.
  4. A sound knowledge of CDM 2015 and current H&S Legislation, with at least 5 years of professional experience in a comparable position.
  5. Motivated, dedicated, and ready to embrace new challenges and take initiative and ownership.
  6. Experience in participating in contract negotiations and in contract management of large infrastructure investment projects is desirable.
  7. Willingness to familiarize yourself with new tasks at short notice.
  8. Willingness to travel within the scope of project requirements.
  9. A strong team player with good communication and persuasion skills, who enjoys working within intercultural teams.
