You will take ownership of store operations, running duty shifts, and coordinating a team to meet customer expectations. Your role will involve on-the-job coaching and feedback to improve service quality and store performance.

As a Shift Leader, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating the team to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
  • Opening and closing the store, ensuring all decisions are customer-focused and safe.
  • Providing support to colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager, addressing day-to-day operational queries.
  • Collaborating with the Store Manager to coordinate seasonal, community, and charity events, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy, and well-presented store environment.
  • Prioritizing product replenishment to meet customer needs.
  • Addressing overcharges and preventing reoccurrences.
  • Managing queues to deliver a seamless shopping experience.
  • Staying knowledgeable about store operations, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing practical solutions.
  • Sharing ideas to simplify operations and enhance customer service.
  • Resolving colleague queries, escalating issues to the Store Manager when necessary.
  • Ensuring adequate staffing, addressing short-term absences, and finding cover for shifts.
  • Serving as a recognized Keyholder, attending alarm call-outs to ensure store safety and security.
  • Monitoring and acting on internal communications, keeping colleagues informed.
  • Coordinating colleagues to meet customer needs and store operations, feeding back to the Store Manager on any issues.
  • Balancing time between service and replenishment areas.
  • Supporting the Store Manager in managing absence, conducting return-to-work interviews, and reporting absence triggers.
  • Building relationships with the Area Manager and People Partner, seeking advice and support when needed.
