Train Service Operations Manager

The Role

This role requires a deep understanding of the operational railway and the processes used to manage the train service in real-time. This includes monitoring and recovery of services, information provision, and management of key contractual and performance interfaces with Network Rail.

The successful colleague will be responsible for managing and delivering a safe, punctual, and reliable train service by making quick and effective decisions. They will need to communicate effectively across all levels of the business, as well as with external parties, and build and maintain productive relationships with Network Rail and other key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include recording accurate incidents, train service management information, and performing well under pressure. The role also requires flexibility in working hours, enthusiasm, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • IT literacy and ability to learn new systems
  • Well-organized and able to prioritize workload
  • Exceptional levels of customer service and ability to write and communicate effectively
  • Understanding of customer needs during disruption
