Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior/Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Langham Recruitment Ltd. in the field of Space Optics.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a mechanical engineer with experience in the design and analysis of opto-mechanical systems to lead the design of mounting arrangements for optics, review mounting arrangements designed by sub-contractors, and assist with requirements management of opto-mechanical technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of mounting arrangements for optics
  • Review mounting arrangements designed by sub-contractors
  • Assist with requirements management of opto-mechanical technologies, as well as requirement derivation and reviews
  • Conduct a range of opto-mechanical analysis (e.g. tolerance, thermal, static, dynamic)
  • Design mechanical components
  • Support verification and testing
  • Produce gate review documentation
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure high quality standards are met across the development lifecycle
  • Produce designs using CAD packages

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of precision mechanical mounting of optics for structural, dynamic and thermal environments
  • Ability to review opto-mechanical designs
  • Competent with CAD packages
  • Experience of opto-mechanical design and analysis
  • Knowledge of requirements management
  • Experience preparing and presenting design documentation for gate reviews
