Our client, a leading global engineering group, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Purchasing professional to lead their dynamic purchasing and logistics team. This role is primarily based at their strategic office in southwest Birmingham.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and develop a small, high-performing purchasing and logistics team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Formulate and implement procurement strategies that align with the company's broader business objectives.
- Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships to support the successful delivery of EPC projects.
- Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to achieve optimal pricing, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Monitor market trends and identify potential risks or opportunities to ensure supply chain resilience.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and project management teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of quality and delivery performance.
The ideal candidate will be of graduate calibre, preferably holding CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) qualifications. You should possess substantial experience in purchasing and logistics within a manufacturing environment, ideally in sectors such as oil and gas, construction, automotive, aerospace, or rail. A deep understanding of EPC project delivery is highly desirable, as is the ability to operate strategically while maintaining a hands-on approach.
