Geotechnical Engineer Opportunity at RSK Group

CAN Geotechnical, part of the RSK Group, is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Chesterfield. This is a full-time permanent role that offers a unique blend of office-based work and site visits.

The successful candidate will have a background in geotechnical engineering and experience with slope stability software. They will be responsible for inspecting rock faces, slopes, and retaining walls, as well as undertaking detailed design of stabilisation solutions.

The role requires a strong understanding of geotechnical principles and the ability to work effectively in a team. The candidate must be willing to undertake IRATA rope-access training and inspections.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspecting rock faces, slopes, and retaining walls using ropes with an experienced rope access supervisor.
  • Visiting current slope stabilisation projects to ensure construction is being undertaken in accordance with design.
  • Undertaking detailed design of stabilisation solutions using slope stability software.
  • Preparing quotations, inspection reports, and design documentation.
  • Assisting in the development of CAN's design and build capability.
Person Specification:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Practical experience of inspecting rock and soil slopes and use of slope stability software.
  • Bachelor's degree in geology/civil engineering or a related subject.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
