Job Purpose

Global Generation is seeking a skilled professional to manage the Story Garden and oversee its relocation in 2025. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for ensuring a positive legacy for the Story Garden, including donating plants, planters, and structures to the local community.

  • To provide opportunities for the direct experience of natural wilderness environments for children, young people, and adults.
  • To support young people in developing their full potential, enabling them to contribute positively to society and the environment.

We operate in Camden, Islington, and Southwark, working with people of all ages, particularly children and young people. Our garden spaces, such as the Story Garden and Floating Garden, combine activities like urban food growing, carpentry, making, cooking, and healthy eating with dialogue, storytelling, creative writing, performance, and art.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Garden planning and management, including supporting the garden team with horticultural work and project managing funded projects.
  • Working closely with the community engagement team to run community events and manage the Story Garden budget.
  • Project managing the Story Garden move, ensuring a positive legacy and donating resources to the local community.
  • Managing and delivering corporate volunteer days and supporting the Seasonal Gardener with the Gardening Club.
  • Line managing staff and volunteers, supporting their professional development, and integrating volunteering and training opportunities within the wider area.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • City & Guilds Level 2 Horticulture or equivalent and 3 years of experience in a practical horticulture role.
  • A good understanding of organic horticulture principles and practice.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, including budgeting and monitoring.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and line management.
  • Excellent administration, written, and verbal communication skills.
