Academic Support Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a specialised SEMH school in Bournemouth. As a Graduate Education Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students with diverse needs.

Our school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment focused on holistic development. Our team of dedicated staff are committed to empowering students and fostering a positive learning experience.
All of our pupils have been excluded from mainstream school and are aged 11-16 years old. Our small class sizes enable additional support to help pupils reach their full potential.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with Social, emotional and mental health needs
- Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies
- Support students in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to meet the needs of students effectively
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable
- You MUST have a visa to work in the UK (we are not able to offer sponsorship)
- Strong understanding of SEMH and its impact on learning and behaviour
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students with diverse needs
- Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one
Competitive pay rate of £12.90 per hour
