  • Group Interventions: Lead or assist in small group sessions aimed at promoting positive behaviour, social skills, and emotional well-being, using evidence-based practices and techniques.

  • Classroom Assistance: Support teachers in managing classroom behaviour, ensuring a positive learning environment for all students. This may include intervening in disruptive situations and helping students to refocus on their learning.

  • Mentoring: Build trusting relationships with students, acting as a positive role model and mentor. Offer guidance and support to help students develop resilience, self-discipline, and a positive attitude towards school.

  • Liaison with Staff: Work closely with teaching staff, the SENCO, and pastoral teams to develop and implement individual behaviour plans (IBPs) for students. Ensure that all relevant staff are informed of the strategies in place.

  • Monitoring Progress: Track the progress of students receiving behaviour support, maintaining accurate records and providing regular feedback to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties.

  • Crisis Management: Be prepared to respond to situations where students may be in emotional distress or exhibiting challenging behaviour, using de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe environment.

  • Parental Engagement: Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing updates on student progress and working collaboratively to support the student's development both at school and at home.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people, particularly those with challenging behaviour or additional needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach, with the ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
  • An understanding of the factors that can influence student behaviour, including social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaison effectively with staff, parents, and external agencies.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive impact on young people's lives. If you are motivated by helping students overcome challenges and succeed in their education, we encourage you to apply for the Behaviour Mentor position.
