Job Title: Special Needs Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Needs Teacher to provide tailored and inclusive education to students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lesson Planning and Delivery: Develop and deliver differentiated and engaging lessons that cater to the individual learning needs and abilities of students with special educational needs, promoting their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work closely with colleagues, including teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff, to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and support strategies for students with special needs, monitoring and tracking their progress and attainment.
  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Assess students' learning needs and progress through ongoing observation, formative assessment, and standardized testing, using this data to inform your teaching and provide targeted support and intervention as necessary.
  • Communication and Relationship Building: Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and external professionals, providing regular updates on students' progress, achievements, and any concerns or issues that arise.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of students' progress, attendance, and behavior, ensuring all administrative tasks, including writing reports and attending meetings, are completed in a timely and professional manner.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
  • Specialization and Experience: Specialization or relevant experience in special needs education, with a strong understanding of different special educational needs, including but not limited to autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and emotional and behavioral difficulties.
  • Teaching and Communication Skills: Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students with special educational needs, promoting their engagement and progress across the curriculum.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and external stakeholders, working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Personal Qualities: Patience, empathy, and a compassionate nature, with the ability to respond sensitively to the individual needs and circumstances of students with special needs, providing encouragement, support, and reassurance as necessary.
