About the Role

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Practitioner to join our CAMHS Crisis Team. The successful candidate will provide specialist support to children and young people experiencing mental health crises, working collaboratively with families, schools, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive mental health assessments, risk evaluations, and contingency planning for children and young people presenting in crisis.
  • Develop and implement personalized care plans, focusing on recovery-oriented interventions and empowering patients and their families to take an active role in their care.
  • Provide expert clinical supervision to support staff, ensuring that they have the necessary skills, knowledge, and confidence to deliver high-quality care.
  • Collaborate with multi-agency teams, including social care, education, and emergency services, to ensure seamless care coordination and effective risk management.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, staying up-to-date with best practices, research, and evidence-based guidelines in mental health care.

Requirements

  • Registered Mental Health Practitioner with a relevant qualification and experience working with children and young people.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health legislation, policy, and procedures, including the Children Act and Mental Health Act.
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and manage complex caseloads effectively.
