About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to join our Depot Operations team as a Highway Maintenance Operative. In this role, you will undertake a variety of duties including pothole repairs, excavation works, laying & levelling kerbs, slabs and bitumen macadam, drainage and gully installations, vegetation management and other Highways activities.

You will receive training to gain necessary skills and certificates for the role, including LGC Class C (Cat C) driving license and Winter Service training.

  1. Assist with highways maintenance activities under supervision until trained
  2. Support Winter Service, including gritter operation (training provided)
  3. Assist with preparation and maintenance of vehicles
  4. Support weather-related or emergency events such as flooding prevention, clearing debris from the highway and emergency road closures
  5. Maintain accurate records
  6. A full UK driving licence is essential
  7. Experience working outdoors in a manual role is not essential
  8. Willingness to work towards gaining CSCS card (training provided)
  9. Proactive attitude and good communication
