About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our National Investigation Service and Fraud Hub, providing strategic direction and operational leadership to drive the counter fraud response across the NHS in England.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the enforcement response and criminal investigation of serious and complex fraud, bribery, and corruption cases affecting the NHS.
  • Manage the National Investigation Service fraud investigation teams, financial investigation resources, and the Digital Forensics Unit.
  • Ensure that all criminal investigations are conducted within legislative and statutory requirements, maintaining a procedural approach to investigation work.
  • Lead the Fraud Hub, providing real-time support to the counter fraud community and enabling access to specialist counter fraud expertise and guidance.
Person Specification
  • Significant experience of senior leadership of a counter fraud function and capability.
  • Experience of leading a function dealing with complex criminal cases and the use of an intelligence-led and team-based approach to dealing with investigations.
  • Experience of developing, implementing, and managing strategic, operational, and business plans within a comparable organisation.
  • Experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams of highly specialised accredited/professional staff groups across a wide geographical area.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Public Sector counter fraud environment and the Government Counter Fraud Profession.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the lawful methods for the obtaining of personal data or confidential information for use in counter fraud work.
  • Demonstrable understanding of equal opportunities and of valuing diversity within both an employment and counter fraud function context.
Qualifications
  • Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist or member of the Government Counter Fraud Profession or equivalent significant specialist experience within a comparable organisation.
  • Well-developed presentation skills, both orally and in writing, with the ability to convey complex and challenging information to stakeholders at all levels.
Other Skills
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage staff in respect of developing and delivering shared strategic and business objectives.
  • Ability to develop and deliver on short, medium, and long-term strategic and operational plans.
