About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Valuation Analyst to join our Energy Markets team at SSE. As a senior member of the Market Risk team, you will play a key role in fostering a culture of innovation and improvement, helping to generate ideas and see them brought to fruition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake a key role in the business as a senior member of the team responsible for the economic valuation and risk analysis of long-term structured deals and new asset opportunities in GB, Ireland, and Europe.
  • Assess the risks associated with structured power deals, such as liquidity, shape, capture, and imbalance, and develop the appropriate risk control framework.
  • Provide quantitative modelling expertise and collaborate with commercial quantitative teams to progress with pricing assumptions and valuation and risk models.
  • Develop tools for ongoing long-term portfolio reviews and produce analysis and insight to senior management and executive teams to support strategic decision-making.
  • Act as a representative for Market Risk on strategic projects and collaborate with other support functions, such as Finance, for deal support and insight.
Requirements
  • Strong mathematical modelling, business analysis, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role. Coding knowledge (Python or equivalent) is highly beneficial.
  • Energy market risk knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of the European wholesale energy markets and market risk fundamentals are required.
  • Knowledge of option products and the ability to distil complex information and communicate on various levels are essential.
  • Professional qualifications, such as the FRM or ERP qualification from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (or equivalent), are advantageous.
  • Comfortable dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders within the company and effective in building strong working relationships with other business areas.
