Babcock International Group is seeking a skilled Workshop Fabrication Specialist to join our team at RAF Wyton. As a key member of our workshop team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining lathes and milling machines to produce precision components according to specifications.

The Role
As a Workshop Fabrication Specialist, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary. We are looking for a skilled individual with expertise in metalwork and machine fabrication to join our team. Day-to-day, you will be responsible for:

  • Utilizing fabrication techniques to assemble, cut, and shape materials to meet project requirements.
  • Maintaining welding equipment and ensuring a safe working environment. Performing welding tasks using various techniques (MIG, TIG, or ARC) to fabricate metal components, and inspecting welded joints for accuracy and conformance to specifications.
  • Being the appointed Inventory holder for materials and tools.
  • Collaborating with clients to understand their needs and providing regular updates on project progress.
  • The ideal candidate should be proficient in the operation of lathes, milling machines, drills, and various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, and gas welding). This role involves not only the technical aspects of metalworking but also requires effective communication and collaboration with customers throughout the projects.

This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Wyton.

Essential Experience of the Workshop Fabrication Specialist:

  • Proven experience as a Workshop Fabrication Specialist or similar role in operating lathes and milling machines to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work on own initiative independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications for the Workshop Fabrication Specialist:

  • Level 3 Award in Gas, Mig and Tig Welding with knowledge of the different welding techniques.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Normal colour perception graded as CP2.

Security Clearance

  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC Clearance.
