We're seeking talented students to join our Transmission team for a 12-week summer placement. As a member of our team, you'll work on real-world projects, collaborating with experienced engineers to deliver innovative solutions.

Project Opportunities

We have several project opportunities available, including:

  • HVDC Centre: Support the power system studies to de-risk the deployment of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission technologies.
  • Project Engineering: Gain experience working on multimillion-pound infrastructure projects, covering innovations that will allow us to meet our net-zero targets.
  • HVDC Engineering: Work on significant new HVDC schemes deployed in Great Britain over the coming years.
  • Marine Engineering: Contribute to the installation of critical national infrastructure and its ongoing protection.
  • Offshore Engineering: Collaborate with the Project Manager to help coordinate the successful delivery of transmission projects needed to meet the UK government's 2030 net-zero targets.
About the Role

As a summer placement student, you'll work collaboratively in a variety of contexts, taking ownership of your role and driving action forward. You'll also have opportunities for networking, presentations, and specialist sessions.

We're looking for students who are in their 2nd year of their degree onwards and will graduate between 2026 and 2028. You'll have a genuine interest in SSE and the prospect of a long-term future with us.
